We follow arrows, join queues, and move in directions assumed by boards, marks, and signage. Most of those directions are merged into our system, so we are almost not aware of the controlling part. In this work, I’m researching public spaces and their behavior. I’ve created a visual vocabulary with the idea of simple understanding: the images should explain themselves and provide an interesting and aesthetic overview. These signings form the starting point of the work.&nbsp; This work arose during a three-month residency at Expo Bart, Nijmegen. The audience was invited to move through the space, as they do in public spaces. Some of the works were interactive, for example, the orange work. Within this work was a soundscape hearable. Speakers were installed within the top and side walls of the installation, which makes sounds heard in public spaces. These sounds I collected within a few years. At the moment, I’m working on a sign publication. Her residency research mainly focuses on themes of organization and visualization of movement. The movement Library originates from this research, and concentrates on questions, such as: How is communication possible when you don’t speak the same language? How can we communicate without verbal communication? How can we translate stationary movement into motion? Which daily actions may seen as a performance?&nbsp; In this work(shop), participants are invited to contribute “movements” to The Movement Library. The work consists of a motion-sharing system where participants cooperatively create movements. The artist will offer concept cards, she especially designed for this workshop. Participants will be asked to draw or make a collage about daily proceedings, on their cards. After finishing those concepts, without verbal communication, other participants interpret these drawings and translate them into movements. After a few rounds, there is space to explain and discuss the created cards. 2021-2022In my latest work: What if There Isn’t Water to Perform In? I explore the (schematic) visualizations of routines from synchronized swimming figures. The research on movement opportunities for synchronized swimmers out of the water provides a basis for this work. The work's title simultaneously is the questioning behind it: is it possible for performers to retain the figures written for synchronized swimming “on land”? How many figures are still practicable without water? How can I translate the transitions from one figure to another without the possibility of a three-dimensional use of space? Transformations #2 2020-2021Ongoing performance in installation ca. 150 x 150 x 60 cmIn Compositions of Transformations #2, performers retain certain physical positions for an indefinite period of time. These positions fit perfectly in a frame created to match the ratio of the human body and they are enfolded by pipes that are incorporated within the frame. The figures and physical positions are alternated continuously. The work is set up and deconstructed without an indication of a time stamp. With these elements as my base point, I created a new space using corrugated cardboard. Beholders are invired to experiment with different objects. They are allowed to move through the space and use the objects that are displayed in the room.&nbsp; The work is accompanied by a video, that features as a user manual that explains visitors how to participate. One of the objects featured in the video is enlarged to a life-sized copy to make it accessible for the public. How the Performers Should Move into Space attempts to shed light on answers to questions such as to what extend do visitors voluntarily participate in a work of art? And how can an artist clarify to visitors that the work is accessible to participate in, without physically being present to explain this? The work consists of a compact space, in which the floral pattern of the performer’s dress blends perfectly with the space around it. This is the result of a painted pattern on the background. The performer participates in the work at unannounced times. If the performer is not present, visitors are confronted with a cut-out silhouette of the performer that underlines the absence of the performer. In this work I attempt to explore the boundaries of performance and installation art.
